Grant Williams said that Luka Doncic is not one of the Mavericks’ top four shooters right now, which was another jab at him.
Grant Williams has been very mean to Luka Doncic, who plays for the Mavericks, during media day. He named himself, Seth Curry, and Tim Hardaway Jr. as the Mavericks’ best shooters when asked, but he left Luka off the list. He put Kyrie Irving in his top four, but he said Doncic was “inconsistent.”
“Respectfully, it has to be Seth Curry, Tim Hardaway Jr., and me. Those are the top three.” Kyrie included. Those are the top 4. Luka says he is, but Luka is always telling different stories, so let him go.
Williams is right. Curry made 40.5% of his three-point shots last season, Hardaway made 38.5% with 3.0 shots per game, Irving made 37.9% with 3.1 shots per game, and Williams made 39.5% with 1.5 shots per game. Doncic took more three-point shots and made 2.8 of them per game, for a 34.2% success rate.
Even though Doncic isn’t the best shooter, his weight makes it easy for his friends to make threes. Texas could have one of the best offenses in the NBA this season, which means Williams will get a lot of good looks in the corner.
