Setback for Warriors: Reports Indicate Draymond Green (Ankle) to be Sidelined for 4-to-6 Weeks

Multiple sites reported on Saturday that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has suffered a sprained left ankle and would likely miss the opening of the regular season. 

Green was hurt earlier this week while playing in a casual game at San Francisco’s Chase Center. 

Due to the schedule, Green is unlikely to be ready for the Warriors’ season opener on October 24 against the Phoenix Suns in Oakland. 

On October 7th, Golden State will play the Los Angeles Lakers in their first preseason game. Green is scheduled to meet with media the day before training camp opens on Tuesday to explain his ailment. 

Green joined the Warriors in the summer on a four-year, $100 million contract. 

In 73 games played last season, Green (age 33) averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. 

His 52.7 percent field goal percentage was a personal best. In 758 games (608 starts) with the Warriors since being selected in the second round (35th overall) in the 2012 draft out of Michigan State, Green has averaged 8.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks.
