D’Angelo Russell Thrives Under the Wing of LeBron James in the LA Lakers Squad

D’Angelo Russell is still the Lakers’ first choice at ball defense, despite his disappointing play down the stretch of the previous season.

D’Angelo Russell’s starting spot appears to be in jeopardy after he underperformed in the Playoffs and Gabe Vincent was brought into the mix.

In a press conference on Thursday, though, club officials confirmed that D’Lo would be starting at point guard.

He was able to communicate well throughout the summer, according to coach Darvin Ham. Especially when he began training. D’lo spoke up for the rookies, spoke with Bron and AD, and urged them… It’s no surprise that conditions in Denver were less than ideal, but the team failed to even Without D’Angelo Russell, of course.

Our starting point guard will be D’lo. He plays with intelligence and quickness. We have faith in him. D’Angelo’s consistent team-first mentality is exactly what the Lakers need right now.

However, D’Angelo Russell’s poor performance against the Denver Nuggets raised some eyebrows. Even when the Lakers were hopelessly down in the series, he was sent to the bench.

Russell, on the other hand, has been a game-changer in a number of prior Playoff games. Russell had outstanding games, shots, and performances against the Grizzlies and Warriors, which contributed to the Lakers’ victories.

D’Lo, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis had a +25.6 plus/minus index in 99 minutes of regular season action last year. That foursome logged 306 minutes and a +5.0 Plus/Minus in the postseason.
