‘They are not called LiVARpool for nothing’ – Rival Fans Accuse Reds of Hypocrisy Following Refereeing Statement

Sunday night, in reaction to PGMOL’s admission that Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham should have been permitted, Liverpool released a strongly worded statement.

In sum, the club wants more answers than just calling the mix-up a “significant human error” It’s possible this is only the beginning of the conflict; they plan to “explore the range of options available.”

Liverpool fans have been accused of hypocrisy by some supporters of rival clubs who say their teams have faced similar adversity without resorting to such tactics.

Now, it’s worth noting that only a subset of fans from competing teams hold similar views, with Tottenham fans being the glaring exception.

Reddit user Orcnick writes, “While I truly do agree with Liverpool in pursuing this. They may as well simply hand Liverpool the championship given that they can’t win a single decision against Liverpool. Every time, the players would crowd around the official.

Reddit user Galerader writes, “I sincerely hope Spurs finish the season two points ahead of Liverpool in the standings.”

X, City Chief: “After we were cheated by VAR Officials at Old Trafford, Manchester City FC did not publish a statement. Liverpool and their fans have been upset about a single mistake during the past 24 hours.

“I agree that something has to be done about the state of refereeing in this league,” taegeukie wrote on Reddit. VAR has failed to do its job several times. But it’s bittersweet to watch all this fury after it’s happened to one of England’s (and the world’s) most successful football clubs. To put it simply, it’s tragic.

It’s clear that X is frustrated with all the fuss and bleating surrounding this issue. Pressuring referees in the media is something Liverpool is actively doing.

The Reddit user Roric said, “I would be so fucking embarrassed if Spurs ever put out a statement like this after a match like that.”

“Every time something is released I feel less bad about what happened and I didn’t feel bad to begin with,” said AnxiousPeanut1990 on Reddit.

VinceTM, X: “VAR decision, they have robbed teams too, therefore Liverpool shouldn’t be whining. They don’t go by the moniker “LiVARpool” for nothing.
