Arsenal star Kieran Tierney is ɑngry after being injured in the clash between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao

Kieran Tierney is a major doubt for Scotland’s double-header with Spain and France after suffering a cruel injury setback for Real Sociedad.

The ex-Celtic star was forced off early in the first-half during last night’s 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao and looked visibly upset as he hobbled down the tunnel. Tierney, 26, is a key player for Steve Clarke and would’ve started the crucial Euro 2024 qualifier in Seville on October 12. However, the Arsenal loanee could now face a spell on the sidelines after suffering “an injury to the hamstring muscles of his left thigh.”

News outlet Mundo Deportivo told how Tierney’s frustrations boiled over after his cruel injury curse struck again, revealing that the defender launched two water bottles in rage. The story read: “The negative note of the first half and the game was put by Kieran Tierney, who had to be substituted due to injury in the 24th minute after he noticed that something was not right in a kick from the right.

“He dropped the ball, raised his hand and twisted the gesture. I knew it wasn’t good news. He left very angry, with rage. He even threw two bottles on the floor. He had to walk all the way around and the crowd thanked him for the effort.”

Tierney will now undergo physical therapy, with Sociedad saying his return will “depend on the characteristics of the injury and the evolution of the symptoms.” It’s a devastating blow for the left-back, who has quickly become a fans’ favourite at Real Sociedad after an impressive start to life with the La Liga high-flyers.

The player, who was born on the Isle of Man, has played in five matches thus far and assisted on the game-winning goal against Valencia. Additionally, he played in the Champions League for the first time since leaving Celtic in 2019 as Sociedad battled to a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan, the tournament’s runners-up the previous year.

After losing favor under Mikel Arteta, Tierney was permitted to depart the Emirates on loan in the final days of the transfer window. Despite being healthy and available, the Hoops fanatic was only able to make six Premier League starts last season because of injury problems.
