Kendric Davis, Rudy Gay, Javan Johnson, Jayce Johnson, Rodney McGruder, and Donovan Williams, all free agents, have signed with the Golden State Warriors. The specifics of the agreements are being kept confidential per team policy.
Davis, now 24, has a collegiate resume that includes 146 games played (111 starts) and career averages of 15.7 points, 4.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game in 30.3 minutees per contest while playing for Memphis (2022–23), SMU (2019–22), and TCU (2018–19). The guard finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in the AAC with 2,059 points despite going unselected in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Gay, 37, averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 14.6 minutes per game in 56 appearances for the Utah Jazz last season. Gay is a 17-year NBA veteran who has played for the Grizzlies, Raptors, Kings, Spurs, and Jazz, averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals in 30.9 minutes per game. The Houston Rockets picked him eighth overall in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft.
In 127 games (96 starts) across six years at Troy, Iowa State, and DePaul, 24-year-old Javan Johnson averaged 9.8 points, 3.8 boards, and 1.6 assists in 27.3 minutes per contest. Johnson, who went unselected in the 2023 NBA Draft, played in six Summer League games for the Warriors in Sacramento and Las Vegas, averaging 4.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 13.2 minutes.
In 32 games (27 starts) with the Santa Cruz Warriors last year, 26-year-old Jayce Johnson averaged 9.4 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists across 25.7 minutes per contest. After four years of college basketball at the University of Utah and Marquette, Johnson was selected by Santa Cruz with the ninth pick of Round 2 in the 2022 G League Draft.
McGruder, now 32 years old, averaged 5.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 16.4 minutes in 32 games (12 starts) for the Detroit Pistons last season. With the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Detroit Pistons over the course of seven NBA seasons, McGruder has played in 317 games (132 starts), averaging 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 19.4 minutes per game. After four years at Kansas State, the guard was not selected in the draft.
Williams, now 22 years old, made two appearances for the Atlanta Hawks last season while signed to a Two-Way contract. The guard averaged 12.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steal in 28.5 minutes per game in 23 games (21 starts) with the Hawks’ G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. Before joining the Hawks, he played for two years at the University of Texas (2019–20 and 2020–21).
