The Spanish goalkeeper, who has been signed on an initial loan deal from Brentford with an option to buy for £27million, has now been selected for the Gunners’ last three games.

Despite losing his No1 jersey to the Spaniard, Ramsdale showed support for his rival after he brilliantly denied Brennan Johnson from equalising in the first-half.

Raya flew to his right to palm the shot away with the cameras quickly cutting to Ramsdale as he applauded the save.

Sky Sports pundit Carragher said: “I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person.

“I was laughing when I saw that. He’s absolutely devastated with that really.”

The Arsenal star appeared to personally respond to Carragher’s comments by posting two photos to his personal Instagram story on Monday. Ramsdale’s move shows that it is not unusual for him to praise his teammates.

On his personal page, Aaron Ramsdale posted two moments of passionate celebration in the colors of Bournemouth and Arsenal.

Photo 1: Ramsdale was only a substitute but still ran onto the field to celebrate with excitement with his teammates.

Photo 2: Ramsdale ran up the other half of the field to share in Reiss Nelson’s explosive goal against Bournemouth last season.

This serves as a reminder that Ramsdale always does his best for his teammates and the team regardless of the circumstances. Contrary to the cruel comments from Jamie Carragher, that Ramsdale is a hypocrite [applause for David Raya] and will try to leave in the next January transfer window.

Before that, Ramsdale’s father Nick has furiously hit back at the Liverpool legend on Twitter.

Ramsdale Sr wrote: “You are a disgrace!! Show some class!! My lad has.”

Ramsdale’s dad is no stranger to showing his passion for Arsenal after starring in the behind-the-scenes documentary All or Nothing.

Nick has a cameo role in the show and is seen swearing and stressing throughout a match his son is playing in with emotions running high.

On the decision to choose Raya ahead of Ramsdale for yesterday’s game, manager Mikel Arteta said: “It’s trying to play the way we want to play on the day.

“I made some calls and left some players on the bench.”

Arteta previously opened up on the goalkeeping situation, revealing the choice to drop last season’s first choice keeper left an uncomfortable feeling “in his tummy.”
