At this point, it would be shocking if Mohamed Salah went a whole game without making a significant impact on the scoreboard.
The ‘Egyptian King’ has begun the season well for Liverpool, and it seems like he will be staying with the club for at least another year.
Salah has taken the bull by the horns from the first game of the season against Chelsea, acting as a leader on the field and giving his all to make sure that last year’s agony is forgotten.
He has very high expectations, therefore Liverpool’s poor performance in 2022–23 would have disappointed him.
Salah was back at it again on Sunday in the Premier League when he scored a penalty kick to put the Reds ahead in a 3-1 victory against West Ham.
The 31-year-old has struggled with penalties as of late, missing against teams like Bournemouth and Arsenal (though he did score on the rebound of a save against the Cherries), but he is a confident player who never gives up, as seen by his decisive finish.
After posing a constant threat all afternoon against a formidable Hammers squad, Salah was able to enjoy yet another personal victory when the final whistle rang.
The incredible consistency with which he plays is reflected in the fact that he has now made at least one goal contribution in each of his past 12 Premier League games.
The fact that he has equaled a record established by…himself could make it even more remarkable.
Yes, Salah is now so tired of competing with other players that he has decided to equal his own accomplishments.
The likes of Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez, and many more real greats of the game are now following in his footsteps as he becomes the first player in Premier League history to accomplish this accomplishment twice.
Although Salah’s world-class talent is on display almost every week, he still receives little credit for his accomplishments in the eyes of the general footballing public, leading to a nagging impression that he is undervalued.
Do we give this living icon, who we see every week, enough credit?
Of course, he is beloved by Liverpool’s faithful, and he is well regarded by many others, but he must now be discussed as one of the finest attackers in English football’s illustrious history.
Even if the Belgian Eden Hazard was a fantastic player at one point, he can’t hold a candle to Salah in terms of the influence he’s had on the field as a whole.
Similarly, when players like Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish are having a strong season, the media is quick to label them as exceptional talents despite the fact that they are not even near to the level of Mohamed Salah.
Now in his sixth year as a Red, he has scored an incredible 190 goals and added 78 assists. Over the course of his career, he has steadily grown into an even more potent creative force, never scoring less than 19 goals in the league and 23 in all competitions.
While Salah’s goal-scoring prowess is undeniable, his passing ability has a tendency to go under the radar, much like Lionel Messi’s. Few current players can break through a defense like this one and set up a teammate with a piece of instinctual wizardry like this one.
Salah is so motivated that he won’t be slowing down any time soon, despite the fact that some, whether rival fans or commentators, appear anxious to start writing him off now that he is in his 30s.
With four goals and four assists so far this season in only six games played, it would be surprising if he didn’t have another 30-goal, 15-assist season barring major injury.
Despite Alisson and Virgil van Dijk’s continuous impact — the former is irreplaceable and in the form of his life — and Dominik Szoboszlai’s already massive impact, Salah continues to be Liverpool’s most important player.
While the other four attackers are excellent in their own way, they lack Salah’s hunger for victory, his doggedness in the final third, and the dread they instill in their opponents.

Early signs indicate that Liverpool’s famous attacker will be at his best in 2023/24, which is crucial if the club is to make a serious run at the Premier League title.
The fact that this might very well be Salah’s last season in a Liverpool jersey is the worst bummer of all.
Of course, it’s not out of the question that he remains through 2024, but Saudi interest will resurface next summer, and it’s not hard to imagine that it may change his mind.
It would also be Liverpool’s final opportunity to cash in on their most valuable player, which would help the club continue its rebuilding process and contribute to Jurgen Klopp’s 2.0 era at Anfield.
In order to ensure that Salah’s greatness is recognized and celebrated throughout his time with the Reds and not only when he goes, we must savor every moment we have of watching him play.
We are seeing one of Liverpool’s top three all-time greats at the height of his abilities, and players of this caliber are very uncommon in the sport.
Salah will forever own this era at Anfield, which has seen numerous greats like Billy Liddell, Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes, Steven Gerrard, and Luis Suarez play there.
Actually, he and Kevin De Bruyne should be unanimously recognized as the Premier League’s top players during the previous six years, but scandalously, that does not seem to be the case.
Make the most of Salah’s visit. For him, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
