Former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun made his first start for AS Monaco but things did not go smoothly.

The 22-year-old left Arsenal to join AS Monaco for £25.7m after a successful season on loan in Ligue 1 with Reims last season.

Balogun scored 21 goals in just 37 matches for Reims in the French National Championship and was signed by AS Monaco to a 5-year contract.

Balogun opened his account for his new club, scoring after coming off the bench in a 2-2 draw with Lorient, but in his first start for AS Monaco, things did not go smoothly.

The US international was given a chance on the penalty spot but missed in the 12th minute.

After the break, in the 56th minute, this striker had another penalty kick blocked.

Goalkeeper Marcin Bulka had an excellent performance when he successfully pushed two Balogun shots.

Balogun’s day ended when he was taken off the field in the 67th minute, making way for Wassim Ben Yedder.

During his presence, Balogun only touched the ball 30 times, won 3/9 duels and received the lowest score from Sofa Score.

Balogun’s nightmare does not stop here. Things got worse for the striker when two misses on the penalty spot caused AS Monaco to be punished at the end of the match in the 90+1 minute

Former Chelsea player Jeremie Boga came off the bench to score the only goal in the 90+1 minute, helping Nice defeat AS Monaco to rise to the top of the Ligue 1 rankings.
