Liverpool’s ideal front three, which includes Mohamed Salah, are named by a pundit.
Lee Dixon, a former Arsenal defender, thinks that Liverpool’s striker Darwin Nunez is about to come ‘good’ this season and should become a regular for Jurgen Klopp.
Dixon, in an interview on the NBC Sports podcast The Two Robbies, claimed that Nunez and the recently acquired Cody Gakpo complement Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz very well as offensive alternatives for Liverpool.
“I’ve got a thing for Nunez, I think he’s going to be good. I do. I like Gakpo as well. I also like Diaz. So, Diaz, Nunez and Salah, that’s what I’d go. But all good sides, you’ve got to be able to mix it about a bit.”
After a 1-1 tie on opening day of the 2023/24 season with Chelsea, the Reds have won four straight games.
Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, is now tinkering with a different starting front three. He has been switching out the other players while keeping Mohamed Salah on the field.
After joining Liverpool in the winter of 2017, Nunez had a rough first season. He had trouble finding consistency. However, the 24-year-old Uruguayan has shown more maturity and productivity thus far this season.
His two-goal outburst off the bench helped Liverpool beat Newcastle, demonstrating his immense potential. Despite his limited starting time, Dixon thinks Nunez can provide Klopp with a dynamic new option in the center of the attack.
Given the depth of Liverpool’s forward roster, Nunez will have to fight for playing time. However, when used well, his size, speed, and brains in the box provide a crucial dimension for the Reds.
Nunez joined Liverpool in a record-breaking £85 million transfer from Benfica. In the 2021-22 season, he scored 34 goals for the Portuguese team across all competitions, demonstrating his devastating scoring ability.
Meanwhile, Diaz continues to be among the league’s top left wingers. We haven’t seen a winger with his speed and cleverness in a long time. And then there’s Salah, who is both a true club icon and one of the world’s deadliest strikers.
After the sudden departures of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, Takumin Minamino, and Roberto Firmino, nobody predicted that we would have such a deep attacking unit. the fact that super-sub Diogo Jota is still a part of our team is incredible.
