Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for August is Dominik Szoboszlai.
After a fantastic first season with the Reds, No. 8 takes home the trophy for the first time in 2023–24.
In a fan vote on Liverpoolfc.com, Szoboszlai came out on top, beating out teammates Alisson Becker and Darwin Nunez.
As he was leaving the AXA Training Centre with his trophy, he reflected on the experience, saying, “It’s a pretty fantastic feeling. I appreciate everyone who voted for me.
I’m simply helping the squad out as best I can and enjoying life.
Even though I was caught off guard by the early start, I’d want to express my gratitude to the rest of the team and the management. Having a helpful hand makes everything simpler.
The team comes first, and I’m doing all I can to assist the team succeed.
How it would feel to play in front of them [the fans] at Anfield or even on the road was the first thing that crossed my thoughts. They never leave your side. I’m thrilled to provide them pleasure.
In the Premier League this month, the Hungarian captain started all three games for Liverpool, helping his team earn seven of a potential nine points.
Szoboszlai started the season away at Chelsea and went on to earn Player of the Match honors in a 3-1 victory against AFC Bournemouth and an impressive comeback victory away at Newcastle United.
“I think there’s always more to come,” he went on. I have a lot of room to grow, and I always try to take cues from the guys who have been with the team for seven years or more (or even less) than that. Taking their suggestions into consideration, I am trying to keep going in this direction.
