“Excellent” – Andy Robertson Extols Jarell Quansah Following His Remarkable Full Debut for Liverpool

Andy Robertson called Jarell Quansah’s Premier League debut ‘excellent’.

In his debut Liverpool start against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday lunchtime, 20-year-old Academy product Quansah played well in defense as the Reds came back from a one-goal halftime deficit to win 3-1.

Quansah’s performance was “excellent from the big man,” Robertson told Liverpoolfc.com.

With veteran players, you definitely search for aid more, but I don’t believe many of us assisted him in the first half. We wanted to protect him, but we weren’t as good in the first half, but he was confident, defended well, and was calm on the ball.

“He has a bright future ahead of him but the here and now is pretty good as well, and for him to step in at a really tough place to come, a really tough team to play against, and put in that performance, particularly in the second half, then fair play to him for his first start

Robertson captained the comeback win at Molineux and scored the 85th-minute second goal with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold out. Continue reading our post-match chat with the left-back. Liverpool once again showed great spirit to overcome a deficit and win.

Yes, huge for us. The first half was poor, and I believe the away supporters and everyone watching at home knew it: too many errors, they were on top, put us under pressure, and created more opportunities than we did. The second half was a genuine team effort; we had to respond, be better, and adjust the formation, but I believe we came out with more purpose. We stopped making errors, became more optimistic, and generated some opportunities. Overall, I believe the outcome was fair, and we earned the three points for our second half performance, but we can’t start like that in too many games.

The squad had more focus and determination after halftime

They made a huge impact, and we’ll need a complete squad coming season, and all the subs today did a wonderful job of contributing. Everything felt faster, better done, and more accurate, which eventually put us back in the game.

Our amazing goal got us back into it, 1-1, and then we continued pushing, being patient, and knowing our time would come—probably not many believed it would fall to me! But I was glad to grab it and pull ahead, and Harvey’s finish was fantastic to calm nerves for the final extra time.

He scored with a great assist from Mohamed Salah

We anticipated they would counter-attack quickly, so we had to be cautious when the goalie grabbed the ball. Luckily, I was front-footed and passed to Mo. He was looking up, so I knew if I gave him the option there, he would choose the appropriate one. Then it was just about making excellent contact. Glad I did that and sneaked it in at the near post. My goals are rare, but I cherish them, especially when they lead to a victory. I appreciate the input and three points, therefore we move on.
