Jarell Quansah had previously come on as a substitute against Newcastle United. Last night, he had his first start in the Premier League, during Liverpool’s visit to Wolves Stadium. Quansah played solidly for 83 minutes before making way for Ibrahima Konate. The young defender displays composure, especially when in possession of the ball, and shows a level of maturity beyond his years.

Klopp spoke up: “He played excellently. When controlling the ball, Jarell was also very calm. We played unorganized in the first half! But he played very well.”

In 83 minutes on the field, these are Quansah”s impressive statistics: 96% pass accuracy, 3/3 long ball accuracy, 5/8 Duels won, 4 ball recoveries, 5 clearances, 2 interceptions

Actually, Liverpool played poorly in the first half and let Wolves score the opening goal. They seemed to wake up in the second half, and won 3-1 in the end. Quansah showed that he is not only physically good, but also calm, brave and mentally strong to deal with high pressure situations.

Quansah’s big step helps coach Klopp stop having headaches in the context of a clear decline in Liverpool’s defense since last season.
