Klopp admitted he made a BIG mistake with Allister when Liverpool won against Wolves

Through Metro, coach Jurgen Klopp admitted that he made a mistake when sending Alexis Mac Allister onto the field in Liverpool’s victory over Wolves.

Liverpool struggled in the first half at Molineux, going behind after seven minutes with a goal from Hwang Hee-Chan.

However, Cody Gakpo’s equalizer got the Kop back on track in the second half. Andy Robertson’s goal and Hugo Bueno’s own goal sealed the 3-1 victory for the Anfield team.

Notably, some Liverpool players played under their strength in the early stages of the match, especially Mac Allister. After straining in Argentina’s two matches, the former Brighton star didn’t seem to have the best feeling on the ball.

The Argentine endured a nightmare first half, giving the ball away on numerous occasions, with one instance resulting in an early booking.

After the break, Allister left the field to make way for Luis Diaz. Coach Klopp himself admitted: “The good thing about the first half was that it was so bad that I didn’t think we could play the second half as well.

“Obviously we wanted to start the game completely differently, but for some reason the boys couldn’t do it, you could see that.

“The energy level was very low, including Allister and a few others. You could see they were struggling. We couldn’t change five people in the first half, so we could only change the system with one player.” defense, and at the same time increase a bit of speed when attacking the ball in front.

“Allister had some good moments in the first half but didn’t feel disappointed coming off the pitch, on the contrary, relieved.”

And asked about Mac Allister’s substitution, Klopp said: “He was done. Yellow card and he was exhausted in the first half already. We know how good Alexis is, in the first half his decision-making… we saw during the week when he had the oxygen mask on, I thought a couple of times (in the first half) they should have left it on a little bit longer – that would have helped maybe!

And Klopp continued: “He did well. He did really well, he was really good. It was a wonderful experience for him. He came on (previously) in very decisive moments, it’s not like he came on to close games. We had to do something there and today he was good.

“In such a disorganized team like we were in the first half, he was the one who looked kind of all right. That is a statement, absolutely. I’m really happy for him. He is quite happy in the moment as well. He is a good boy.”
