Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool Climbs to the Premier League Summit: Wolves 1-3 Liverpool in Thrilling Second-Half Turnaround

Thanks in great part to Mohamed Salah’s hat trick of assists, Liverpool ended their noon losing skid.

After Wolves grabbed the lead through Hwang Hee-Chan after just seven minutes, Salah led the charge in the second half to equalize. The forward had been extensively linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the summer window. Salah contributed to three more goals—one each by Cody Gakpo and stand-in captain Andy Robertson, as well as Harvey Elliott’s deflected goal—that helped the squad extend its undefeated league streak all the way back to April.

The absence of Virgi van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as well as the fact that four of his squad members just returned to training on Friday after playing World Cup qualifiers in South America, must have thrilled Jurgen Klopp.

They came back from being down a man to defeat Bournemouth and Newcastle earlier in the season. A year ago, they lost all six of their games that started at 12.30 p.m., so Saturday’s victory at Molineux was a huge turnaround.

Wolves surprised a new-look Liverpool squad by scoring after just seven minutes.
