Liverpool will play Wolves in the Premier League this weekend, but the Reds are already dealing with a lot of injuries, with striker Darwin Nunez the most recent setback.
Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool, has received a concerning fitness update from Marcelo Bielsa, the manager of Uruguay.
On Tuesday in Ecuador, Nunez started as the team’s center forward, but Bielsa, the former Leeds manager, took him out before halfway due to the striker’s physical pain. The Reds’ outstanding player last weekend against Chile played 73 minutes.
The former Benfica striker played a total of 41 minutes, all as a substitute, in Liverpool’s first three Premier League games this season against Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Newcastle before playing the full 65 minutes in the victory over Aston Villa before the break.
Although Bielsa’s update does not suggest a significant physical issue, it is unclear if the Uruguayan striker will be able to start Saturday’s Premier League game against Wolves.
Prior to elaborating on his decision to replace Nunez at the break, Bielsa mentioned that Nunez had “muscular difficulties” and said, “It seemed convenient to me to substitute him because he couldn’t keep up with the game when we had to press.”
Prior to the international break, Klopp expressed his worry that his South American players, such as Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Alexis MacAllister, would lose focus before domestic football returns due to too much travel on top of their match schedule.

Approximately 48 hours after our South American opponents play somewhere else on the earth, we will face Wolverhampton Wanderers. We must be ready and willing to try because it will be a difficult task.
Nunez’s inclusion in the starting lineup for the game is now in doubt, while Virgil van Dijk won’t be going to Molineux because of a suspension. Another important injury concern involves Trent Alexander-Arnold, who had an injury prior to the international break and is battling time to heal in time for the weekend. The full-back was forced to depart the Villa game at Anfield after 71 minutes due to what appeared to be a hamstring issue.
Even though Klopp was satisfied there was no major issue, he informed reporters following the game that further examination was necessary and a comeback this weekend was improbable.I’m not sure exactly, Klopp said. When I questioned him, he claimed that it was his hamstring. He claims it’s “not too serious,” but to be sure, we must wait for the scans.
