Hannibal, a teenage player for Manchester United, came off the bench to aid Tunisia to a major victory away from home against Egypt.
Last night, Tunisia beat its North African rivals, Egypt, 1-0 in a friendly match.
Having put Tunisia up 2-1 in the 82nd minute, Hannibal Mejbri entered the game in the 95th and helped secure a 3-1 win with a goal in stoppage time.
Players from Tunisia, led by Hannibal, began to celebrate wildly.
Laughs at Liverpool star Mo Salah, who Hannibal mocks Egypt’s Mo Salah started and played the whole match, but the Tunisian defense hardly let him make a sound.
Hannibal’s Tunisia had cause to rejoice after a win in Salah’s home, and they did so by mimicking Salah’s celebration.
Hannibal, a young player for Manchester United, was among several who replicated Salah’s scoring celebration.
Hannibal does have a talent for getting under the skin of his opponents’ fans and players, and he played right into that here.
After making the bench for the latest match against Arsenal, he may soon have an opportunity to bring his prickly attitude and aggressive playing style to the first team.
International honors go to Hannibal Mejbri
For a player of his age (20), Hannibal Mejbri has already made 26 appearances for his national team. He was in the lineup for their 3-0 victory against Botswana.
The issue has arisen on the club level, since he has played for Manchester United just three times in competitive first team games since May of 2022.
He performed well enough in preseason to warrant keeping him around rather than sending him on loan, so that’s fantastic news. Later this month, he may have a shot at playing in the Carabao Cup.
