The Kopa Trophy nominations for this year were revealed by France Football, with Barcelona players seeking to win a hat-trick of trophies. It was won by Pedri back in 2021, while Gavi received it the previous year.

Along with another Barcelona colleague Alejandro Balde, who is almost certainly going to be a front-runner for the Golden Boy award, both players have been nominated for this year’s prize. Public voting for the Golden Boy Award started this week.

Real Madrid players make up two of the five nominees for La Liga overall. Both Eduardo Camavinga, who had a standout 2022–23 season, and Jude Bellingham, who signed from Borussia Dortmund this summer, are likely to be strong contenders for the prize.The fact that half of the nominees play in La Liga speaks something about the caliber of young players in Spanish football. Certainly, there is a good likelihood that one of Barcelona or Real Madrid will win the renowned prize.
