Al-Ittihad’s ‘Plan B’ for Mohamed Salah Transfer if Liverpool Rejects World-Record Bid

If they are unable to sign the Liverpool striker before Thursday’s transfer deadline, Al-Ittihad will renew their pursuit of Mohamed Salah.

After having their massive £150 million offer for Salah rejected by Liverpool last Friday, the Saudi Pro League club is now considering upping their offer to £200 million. Liverpool is firm in its refusal to sell the Egyptian, no matter how large the offer.

Furthermore, the Telegraph reports that those close to Al-Ittihad fear it is too late to sign Salah before the Saudi Arabia transfer window closes at 10 p.m. on Thursday.

But Al-Ittihad won’t give up looking for Salah just yet. It is said that if Jeddah doesn’t get Salah this summer, they would try again in the future transfer windows.

Al-Ittihad have been active in the summer transfer window, bringing in players like Karim Benzema, Fabinho, and N’Golo Kante to play under Nuno Espirito Santo. They needed Salah to bolster their offense and help them defend their Saudi Pro League championship.

Salah, on the other hand, has said nothing publicly about Al-Ittihad’s interest. While denying that the striker has talked to the Liverpool locker room, Reds teammate Dominik Szoboszlai did confirm that the forward has assured his teammates that he wants to remain a part of the tight-knit group.

Everyone is chatting because, well, it’s football. We appreciate his staying so much. Although we are having private conversations, it is clear that Salah wants to remain with us. We’re ecstatic; we need him on the squad,” he said on Sunday.

After Salah scored his first goal of the season in their victory over Aston Villa, Klopp made some comments about the player. “I never had any doubt about his commitment to this club,” Liverpool’s manager remarked. Despite the uproar the rest of the world has created, we’re taking it all in stride.

He’s committed to becoming a member of our team. He didn’t have to tell me that he wanted to remain, but he did. He makes his point via discipline, performance, and conduct. This week, we attended sessions where we discussed our future plans rather than our previous actions.

“Mo was there with the players’ [leadership] committee and had his moments when he was talking, and there was nothing like ‘by the way, this is just till next week’ or something. His presence is unquestionable, and it would be great with me if Dom stated [he’s informed players he wants to remain].

‘By the way, boss… [I’m not going]’ isn’t anything Mo has to come into my office and say to me. To be quite honest, apart from the queries from the outside, it never even crossed my mind.
