Liverpool Still in Contention as a Destination for In-Demand Paris Saint-Germain Superstar Next Summer

Liverpool is expected to compete with Real Madrid for the signing of PSG striker Kylian Mbappe next summer.

The Liverpool Echo cites the French publication L’Equipe in reporting that the Reds will compete with Paris Saint-Germain for the services of Kylian Mbappe this coming summer.

The Reds have long been interested in the 24-year-old French international, who has also been a major target for Real Madrid.

Mbappe started his career with AS Monaco and joined PSG on loan for the 2017–18 season before being signed permanently by the French club in 2018. The World Cup champion has steadily developed into one of the best attackers in football, garnering him widespread acclaim and attention.

There is a lot of competition to sign the French World Cup champion, but Los Blancos seem to be the frontrunners. Liverpool, according to L’Equipe, also has a chance to sign him.

Mbappe’s dream is to play for Real Madrid, and the Spanish club is interested in signing him. When his contract was set to expire in the summer of 2022, it was widely assumed that the French ace would sign with a team in La Liga.

The PSG star has inked a two-year deal that includes a one-year extension clause. He informed the club during the transfer window that he would not be re-signing for another year, making him a free agent in the summer of 2024.

The Ligue 1 club was hesitant to lose him for nothing, so they kept him away from the first team at first. However, the club and the player were able to have fruitful negotiations, and the player is now back in training.

With less than a year left on his contract, Mbappe’s future is out in the air. Real Madrid will undoubtedly try to sign him in the summer of 2019, but Liverpool will likely also be interested.

For some time now, Jurgen Klopp’s squad has had their eye on the world-class player, and now that he’s available on a free transfer, they may finally be able to afford to sign him.
