As he watched soccer legend Lionel Messi lead Inter Miami upset Los Angeles Football Club on Sunday night, Prince Harry appeared delirious with delight.
When he was seen Friday night during Beyonce’s concert looking bored with Meghan Markle, the 38-year-old cut a noticeably different figure.
He grinned and proudly wrinkled up a LAFC scarf, supporting his home team from the BMO Stadium stands.
Meghan was also scheduled to appear, but she didn’t show up to the gathering with all the celebrities.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were listed on the ‘notable attendees’ form that was filled out prior to the game.
With the exception of the pair, who were simply referred to as “Prince Harry” and “Meghan Markle,” everyone on the list featured their occupation next to their name.
Harry joins a crowd of famous people, including Jason Sudeikis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Owen Wilson, Selena Gomez, and LAFC co-owner Will Ferrell.
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham was also spotted cheering for his team as they extended their winning streak in the MLS since Messi joined.
With goals from Facundo Farias, Jordi Alba, and Leonardo Campana, Inter Miami defeated the opponent 3-1. Messi, who earns $54 million annually, had two assists.
Harry seems more thrilled to be watching soccer than he did on Friday while watching Beyonce with his wife and mother-in-law.
Harry played soccer while attending Eton School and stated in his autobiography that he loved all sports.
When he stated, “I played every dry sport, though rugby captured my heart,” he was referring to the four sports that were considered “dry” at Eton: rugby, football, and polo.
Rowing, sailing, or swimming were wet sports. Harry claimed that he found rugby to be therapeutic. Beautiful game with an excellent justification for slamming into things hard, he wrote.
“Rugby allowed me to vent my wrath. I was simply less sensitive to pain than other lads, which made me intimidating on the field.
A large audience attended the game on Sunday night in anticipation of watching Argentine superstar Messi play his debut match in the City of Angels.
To the joy of co-owner Beckham, Messi joined the Miami team in July and has helped the club soar up the league standings.
Mario Lopez and Owen Wilson both wore LAFC shirts and baseball caps to express their support for the home team.
In the wildly popular Apple TV series, Jason Sudeikis, who plays soccer coach Ted Lasso, was dressed in an eye-catching orange sweatshirt.
DiCaprio attempted to maintain a low profile at the evening event while sporting a dark baseball cap and sunglasses. An energetic Selena Gomez was also in the audience. The game began at 10 p.m. local time.
On Sunday night, Victoria Beckham, who usually attended Inter Miami games and brought along famous friends like Kim Kardashian, was nowhere to be found.
Romeo Beckham turned 21 on September 1 and the Beckham family gathered in England on Friday night to celebrate.
Victoria’s sister Louise, Victoria’s niece Libby Adams, David’s sister Joanna, and family friends such nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson were present with David and Victoria. Where they celebrated was unknown.’
Brooklyn Beckham, the oldest son of the Beckhams, and his wife Nicola Peltz were not present at the event.
The $24 million Miami penthouse in the One Thousand Museum building that David and Victoria purchased in 2020 serves as their home base in the United States.
The former captain of England relocated to Los Angeles in 2007 to play for LA Galaxy, and in 2014 he revealed he was starting his own squad.
He disclosed the name, Inter Miami, in September 2018.
Since Messi’s arrival, Inter Miami has gone undefeated in all competitions, winning seven games in League Cup play, including the championship game against Nashville SC on August 19 that they won on penalties twice.
Since then, the Herons have won a U.S. Open Cup game and are 1-0-1 in MLS regular-season action.
Inter Miami holds the record for the longest streak of unbeaten games with ten.
Messi has 11 goals and 6 assists while wearing an Inter Miami jersey, but on Wednesday, the squad was held without a goal in a scoreless draw with Nashville SC.
To some unexpected success, Nashville’s defenders crowded the penalty area.
“The ball was moving too slowly in the first half; in the second, I think we did a little better, but it was hard for us,” Inter Miami coach Tata Martino remarked.
These games frequently occur, therefore I can appreciate everyone’s annoyance. We both agreed that it was a wonderful night to keep making progress.
Inter Miami has failed to score in either of its previous two games against LAFC. Miami defeated 1-0 in its inaugural MLS match against LAFC in 2020.
Last year, Inter Miami endured a 2-0 loss to LAFC at home.
Harry’s trip to the stadium came at the end of a busy weekend that started on Friday with his attendance at the Beyonce concert.
He will shortly take a flight to Dusseldorf, Germany, for the Invictus Games of this year.
From September 9 to September 16, a sporting event for injured veterans is being conducted in the German city, with the opening day being the day after the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
According to a close friend and confidant of the Sussexes, Omid Scobie, Harry is anticipated to attend the entire games while Meghan is scheduled to come “later on” and stay for the Closing Ceremony before departing for the US.
The Duke of Sussex is reportedly going to be in Britain on the day of Her Majesty’s passing, but he won’t be joining the rest of his family since his father King Charles plans to observe the day at Balmoral Castle, where the Queen died away.
Before leaving for Germany on September 8, Harry will attend an event in London to honor the accomplishments and tenacity of children with life-threatening illnesses and the families of those children who are supported by the nonprofit organization WellChild.
A representative for the couple said: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited to attend the Invictus Games 2023 in Dusseldorf.
“The Duke will be present for the duration of the games, and the Duchess will join him shortly after the games begin.”
The final address from Prince Harry is anticipated, and Meghan will take the podium to present the ‘Lifestories Scene’ portion, which will focus on the personal histories of some of the Olympians.
The participants’ “unwavering spirit and impressive recovery journey” would reportedly be praised by the king.
This year’s games will be the “best ever,” according to the Duke of Sussex.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German president who hosted the King and Queen in March of this year, is one of the other figures scheduled to appear.
