Gavi, a midfielder for Barcelona, proudly displayed his repaired ear following the team’s 2-1 La Liga victory over Osasuna on Sunday.
The teenager picked up the injury during the game after a challenge with Ruben Garcia and had to be stapled back together before resuming action at El Sadar.
Gavi did successfully complete the battle, but a closer inspection reveals numerous staples in his ear.
Of course, Barcelona had a successful evening in the end. The visitors earned all three points thanks to a late penalty by Robert Lewandowski, giving Xavi’s team 10 points through their first four games of the year.
As Gavi prepares to join the Spain national team for Euro qualifiers against Georgia and Cyprus, La Liga will now be suspended for the break in international play. Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal, teammates at Barcelona, have also been selected by Luis de la Fuente.
