Angel Alarcon made his professional debut with Barcelona last year. The 19-year-old replaced Memphis Depay, who departed to join LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid, in the first squad back in January.
He made a lasting impression on head coach Xavi Hernandez during that period, and as a result, Alarcon was not loaned out during the summer transfer window. However, a significant muscular injury has prevented him from playing for the past three months.
Alarcon is set to return to action, as Toni Juanmarti has revealed, and he is on the comeback road. When he is fully recovered, it may very well be that he joins the first team, albeit Xavi’s choice has not yet been made.
Alarcon is more likely to play a significant role for Rafa Marquez’s Barca Athletic team, though. He might succeed Victor Barbera, who joined Club Brugge of Belgium in the summer after leaving Barcelona.
