Accordingly, Gravenberch signed a 5-year contract with Liverpool. The Dutch midfielder is the Kop’s fourth signing this summer, after Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.
Notably, all four of these contracts are midfielders. This is a position that coach Jurgen Klopp especially prioritizes after the departures of Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Ryan Gravenberch landed at Anfield after 1 season at Bayern. At the new team, he will wear shirt number 38.
“I’m very happy, very happy that this deal is done, and I’m finally here. If you look from the outside, this is one of the biggest football teams in the world. Everything about Liverpool, from the fans, to the stadium, is great. That’s why I joined The Kop,” Gravenberch shared.
“I will give my all for Liverpool. My goal is to win titles. To do this, we will compete well and let everyone know who we are,” he added.

Ryan Gravenberch is considered a versatile midfielder who can play well in both the number 6 and number 8 roles. He is a product of the Ajax youth academy, and was promoted to the first team in 2018. Gravenberch played. 103 times in all competitions, scoring 12 goals before joining Bayern last summer.
However, at Allianz Arena, Ryan Gravenberch could not compete for an official playing spot. The 21-year-old midfielder missed training on Thursday and manager Thomas Tuchel later confirmed he would join Liverpool this summer.
Coach Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Ryan Gravenberch, telling Liverpool TV: “I’m really happy that Gravenberch agreed to come to Liverpool, he is a special talent. Everyone knows that. He is 21 years old and has played more than 100 matches for Ajax.”
“Gravenberch struggled a bit at Bayern, but at that age, that’s completely normal. We have watched Gravenberch play, he fits Liverpool’s tactical system. You’ve had a full pre-season, which is good.”
“Unfortunately, the national team series will take place in early September and we cannot work together directly. But when he comes back, we’ll start. He is a smart boy. When talking to him, I easily realized that. Gravenberch likes it here, which is a very good thing.”
