Liverpool Secure Midfield Sensation Ryan Gravenberch’s Signature

Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder for Bayern Munich, has signed a long-term deal with Liverpool FC, pending the issuance of a work visa.

After completing a physical and signing at the AXA Training Centre today, Netherlands international Gravenberch becomes the fourth new addition of the summer for the Reds.

The youngest player in AFC Ajax history, he made his debut at the tender age of 16 and went on to win three Eredivisie championships, earning the title of Talent of the Year in 2021.

Two Dutch Cups were won as well, with Gravenberch scoring the first goal in Ajax’s 2-1 victory against Vitesse Arnhem in the 2021 championship game.

Before leaving Amsterdam, he had played in 103 games (including 14 starts in the Champions League) and contributed 25 goals (in both leagues).

Then, Gravenberch made the transition to Bayern during the summer of 2022, playing 33 times as they won the Bundesliga that season.

The 21-year-old now joins Jürgen Klopp’s club at Anfield, joining Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo in starting a new chapter in his career.

“I’m overjoyed. Gravenberch said in his first interview as a Red for Liverpoolfc.com that he was “very happy” that the trade was finalized and he was finally in England.

“It’s one of the largest clubs in the world from the outside. I also believe everything about the stadium and its audience is first-rate. That’s why [the appropriate club] was chosen.

Gravenberch has represented his country on the international stage on many occasions, most recently in 2018 when the Netherlands won the U17 European Championship in England.

After making his debut for the first team as a senior in March 2021, he went on to play for the Netherlands in the postponed Euro 2020. Gravenberch has played in 11 international matches for Sweden, with one goal scored.

“I’m really looking forward to [being at Anfield], and I can’t wait to hear the You’ll Never Walk Alone song,” the Reds’ new No.38 said.

With this new beginning, I pledge to give my best to the club. [One of my goals is] to take home trophies. You need to play a lot and prove who we are and who I am if you want to earn rewards.
