Patrick Lavon Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, won fans over during the team’s training camp when he enthusiastically embraced two young spectators who had polio.
The kids were happy as Mahomes spent time with them, posing for photos and signing autographs despite their physical limitations. Mahomes’ sincere compassion and kindness were evident in all of his contacts, making an impression on the kids and everyone else who saw the touching scene.
The quarterback’s act is a lovely reminder that athletics can unite people and motivate good deeds that go beyond the game itself.
