On Sunday, Chelsea and Roma continued negotiations toward an estimated £7 million loan fee for Romelu Lukaku.
It is suggested that the 30-year-old’s £17 million yearly remuneration be decreased by £7 million.
All summer long, the Blues have been attempting to trade the Belgian but have encountered difficulties with a number of possible buyers.
Despite not being on the radar of incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, Lukaku has spoken to a number of teams.
The Belgian forward has said he is anxious as the trade is almost complete.
Lukaku will join Jose Mourinho in Roma if the transfer is approved, where Mourinho will be in charge of a third team.
Lukaku previously worked with Mourinho at Chelsea before they reconnected at Manchester United.
Chelsea will complete the seven-year contract with New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic this week.
Pochettino stated last week that Chelsea would only pursue players that fit the “right profile.”
For the Blues, injuries have forced the season-ending absence of Carney Chukwuemeka, Armando Broja, and Christopher Nkunku.
.
Pochettino said, “It’s easy to say we need maybe another attacking player, but I think we have offensive players that need to recover.”
“If you bring some players now who may not be fit or who need to adjust to the Premier League, you may spend the same amount of time waiting for them as you would for Broja, Nkunku, or Carney, and you will create a mess for the squad,” he said.
We spend a lot of time researching each prospective scenario as a result in order to make the best decision.
Please be patient with us as we look for the perfect applicant. The player’s profile needs to be included most significantly, which won’t be a problem once we’ve found everyone.
