SUPER NUNEZ engulfed Newcastle at St James’ Park as Liverpool played with only 10 men after Van Dijk was sent off

YOU have to wonder whether Newcastle will ever beat Liverpool again. They certainly will not have a better chance.

However, despite Virgil van Dijk being dismissed and Trent Alexander-Arnold handing Anthony Gordon the game’s only goal, Liverpool managed to come out on top.

The Reds played much of the game with ten men after Virgil van Dijk was sent off

Nunez was delighted to have the final say at St James’ Park

And that was all down to substitute Darwin Nunez. He grabbed the equaliser four minutes after being unleashed as a substitute and then grabbing a stunning 93rd minute winner.

That winless run for Newcastle against their chief tormentors is now 14 games, going back to 2015.

But you have to give enormous credit to Liverpool who showed real guts just when everything seemed to be going against them.

The Dutchman protested the decision for several minutes before leaving the pitch

Nunez came off the bench and bagged his first goal moments later in the 81st minute

The Uruguayan celebrated wildly as Liverpool were rewarded for hanging in

Nunez then scored an identical finish in the 93rd minute to seal the comeback

Nunez is the toast of Merseyside on Sunday night
