Liverpool’s middle needs seem to be taken care of, but Jurgen Klopp wants another center-back for the left side of his team, which is another big problem area.
Without a question, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are Liverpool’s best central defenders this season, but the rest of the team is hit or miss. Klopp wants to add another top left-sided central defender to his team. This week, talkSPORT said that the Merseyside club is interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie.
Ben Jacobs says that Hincapie would love to play in the Premier League and could be had for as little as £35 million this summer. The 21-year-old back hasn’t received any bids yet, but if one comes around now, he will fight to leave Bayer Leverkusen.
Hincapie would be a great addition to the Liverpool team because he meets many of Klopp’s requirements. The young star from Ecuador is also good, but he won’t be a player this season. Instead, he will learn from one of the best, Van Dijk, with the goal of taking over for the Dutch star in two or three years.
Leverkusen’s boss, Xabi Alonso, who used to play for Liverpool, is a big fan of Hincapie. However, the 21-year-old is under contract in Germany until 2027, so he might be hard to get if he doesn’t try to move.
