With the completion of his transfer to Newcastle United, Lewis Hall became the most recent player to leave Chelsea this summer.
Lewis Hall, 18, has signed a season-long loan agreement with Premier League opponent Newcastle that also includes a buyout clause, according to the Chelsea official website.
The agile kid has been a fantastic success story to ascend through the Chelsea academy for the past 12 years and will continue the next phase of his development at St James’ Park.
We don’t find it all that surprising that some Chelsea insiders are angry that Hall quit the team, according to reports from The Athletic.
After his move to Newcastle was confirmed on Tuesday night, Hall posted a farewell message to Chelsea on Instagram. Despite the fact that his arrangement is originally a loan one, it undoubtedly appeared like a final farewell.
Mason Mount, a Chelsea alumnus who also joined Manchester United this summer, left a three-word response in the comments.
“Good luck brother,” wrote Mount.
The frustration within the Chelsea fanbase definitely exists when it comes to getting rid of academy graduates this summer.
Mount’s sale to United is the high-profile one that stunned the supporters. We doubt the Hall news will go down much better, either.
Thankfully, Chelsea do still have a core of youngsters in the first team to come out of the academy at Cobham.
In particular, Reece James has become the official club captain this season under Mauricio Pochettino.
We definitely feel like Hall and Mount could have been key figures if given the chance in a Pochettino line-up, but they’ve gone elsewhere to try further their respective careers.
