Alexis Mac Allister’s Appeal Against Bournemouth Red Card Successful

Liverpool’s appeal against the red card given to Alexis Mac Allister during the match against Bournemouth on Saturday has resulted in the Football Association overturning his three-match ban. The Argentinian midfielder’s straight red card, received for a tackle on Ryan Christie, has been deemed not reckless by an independent regulatory commission.

As a result, Mac Allister’s suspension has been lifted, and he will be eligible to play in the upcoming match against Newcastle. The FA Spokesperson account on Twitter confirmed the removal of his suspension due to wrongful dismissal.

‘During their Premier League match against Bournemouth on Saturday, August 19, Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister was shown a red card for serious foul play. Unfortunately, World Cup-winner Mac Allister’s home debut was curtailed with Liverpool leading 2-1. After reviewing the incident, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his views, stating, “After the game I saw it back. I think if you have a list of points, what we need to give a red card, besides contact there’s nothing else, no other boxes ticked.

It’s a decision we all agree if he gives a yellow card VAR would not overturn it and if he gives a red card VAR will not overturn it because contact means it’s not a clear and obvious mistake.” In response to the Football Association’s decision, Liverpool conveyed, “A club appeal against the suspension has now been upheld by an independent regulatory commission, meaning Mac Allister is eligible for selection when the Reds travel to Newcastle United on Sunday.”
