Mohamed Salah, a forward for Liverpool, scored the final goal of the season as the Reds defeated Wolves 3-1.
For Mohamed Salah, it has been yet another memorable season.
The fact that the Liverpool forward finished the 2021–2022 season with the joint-most goals and the most assists in the Premier League shows how dangerous the Egyptian attacker has been in the final third of the field this year.
Heung-min Son of Tottenham Hotspur also finished the season with 23 goals, earning him the Golden Boot as well, after scoring twice in a 5-0 away victory over Norwich City.
After the Reds’ 3-1 victory over Wolves at Anfield on Sunday, Salah was given his Golden Boot and Playmaker Award, but the 29-year-old failed to hide his sadness at failing to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City by a single point.
The Liverpool players and their families came out of the players’ tunnel shortly after the trophy presentation and made their way to the front for a guard of honor in front of the home crowd.
Makka Salah, who was there on the field, resumed her Anfield tradition by scoring in front of the Kop.
First observed on the final day of the 2017–18 season following a 4-0 victory against Brighton, Makka was greeted with rousing applause from the crowd. After a victory over Wolves the next season, in 2018–19, she repeated the action, earning Salah the Golden Boot both times.
