Piero Hincapié signed, $13m player sold – Dream LFC defense after Klopp transfers

This week, Liverpool has been connected with a move for Piero Hincapié, who is actually in need of a new team and is valued at $13 million. There is a ton of work for Jürgen Klopp.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié is very highly rated.

Even though Jurgen Klopp and Jörg Schmadtke, his new Liverpool sporting director, have been working hard on deals all summer, the end of the transfer season may be quite busy due to the need for more moves.

Wataru Endo’s acquisition from Bundesliga club Stuttgart may have somewhat diminished the need for another midfield addition, but a better choice is still needed in the long run, even if it is not now attainable.

Liverpool cannot afford to be lacking in defensive alternatives at the back. There are still weaknesses that need to be addressed, as the Bournemouth game demonstrated. A holding midfielder will be helpful, but you absolutely must have a better center-back.

With a fine performance against Bournemouth over the weekend (at least after a rough start), Andy Robertson reaffirmed his value to Liverpool (though he really shouldn’t need to). While the Scotland captain might not completely suit the current system, he is a decent enough fit for the majority of games.

Despite suggestions from some quarters to add a right-back and shift Trent Alexander-Arnold to midfield, Liverpool selected a left-sided alternative over someone to play on the right. This means that the position needs more depth.

The revelation that Sporting CP defender Gonçalo Inácio had agreed to a new contract with a higher release clause wasn’t a major surprise last week because Liverpool had dissociated itself from a bid for him.

Joko Gvardiol recently joined Manchester City for a hefty sum, while Micky van de Ven was not seen by Liverpool as being worth the $54 million (£43 million/€50 million) transfer fee that Spurs agreed to pay Wolfsburg (with add-ons) for the young Dutchman. Meanwhile, Levi Colwill made the choice to sign an extended deal with Chelsea.

Piero Hincapié, 21, has, however, this week been connected to a $49 million (£38 million/€45 million) transfer (via Teradeportes). The outstanding Ecuadorian’s performance in Germany under Xabi Alonso has caught the attention of RB Leipzig, which is typically an indication that a rising star is on the correct track.
