LFC now hold talks for £70m PL player, he’s high on Klopp’s list

In an effort to wrap up its summer business, Liverpool has now begun negotiations with Crystal Palace for midfielder Cheick Doucoure.

According to a report in the MailOnline, Jurgen Klopp is very interested in signing both Doucoure and Ryan Gravenberch.

Wataru Endo, a 30-year-old midfielder, was of course the first defensive target Liverpool successfully acquired last week.

Klopp allegedly wants more players in his midfield for the upcoming season, though.

Furthermore, despite Doucoure’s high £70 million valuation, it appears Liverpool are still exploring a transfer.

This summer’s renovation of Liverpool’s midfield has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Their midfield is so drastically different from the group that finished last year’s campaign.

The most prominent departures were Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, whose defensive presence hasn’t been fully replaced.

After Alexis MacAllister was sent off on Saturday, Wataru Endo made a great cameo appearance, but the team will undoubtedly want additional options as the season progresses.

Thus, Liverpool’s negotiations with Doucoure actually make a lot of sense.

Liverpool and Crystal Palace have started negotiations on Cheick Doucoure.

Of sure, Stefan Bajcetic will eventually make a full recovery for Liverpool.

Although Bajcetic and Endo may theoretically fill the defensive role throughout the season, Liverpool obviously wants another option.

Despite all of his promise, Liverpool surely doesn’t want to put too much pressure on Bajcetic’s minutes given his age (18) and recent recovery from a catastrophic injury.

And as mentioned the club’s midfield depth will already be tested away to Newcastle on Sunday with Mac Allister now suspended.

Endo will likely enter the race for his debut, which will be a challenging test at St. James’ Park.

Of course, Liverpool would be purchasing a pre-made alternative now that Cheick Doucoure has completed a full Premier League season.

Since joining Crystal Palace under Patrick Vieira, Doucoure has had an incredible impact, and his departure would be felt deeply.

However, if talks once again continue then Doucoure may be making a move north of London.
