Lamine Yamal is moving up the Barcelona ranks, and after a standout preseason and a very impressive substitute cameo in the La Liga opener against Getafe last week, the youngster made history on Sunday by starting his first match for the club in a 2-0 victory over Cadiz, becoming the team’s youngest player to do so.
In a game Barça dominated, Pedri scored after 82 minutes, but Ferran Torres, who came on for Yamal, added the second goal in stoppage time to seal the victory. Yamal played 85 minutes on the night and was once again impressed with his aggressive attitude and direct play. Lamine also created several dangerous chances with shots and crosses into the box.
Barça fans were once again awestruck by the talent of a 16-year-old with the potential to be truly special in a Blaugrana shirt as Yamal demonstrated his ability to play regular minutes at a high level for the first team while taking advantage of the two-game suspension given to Raphinha for his opening-day red card.
