Mason Mount was a trending topic on social media for all the wrong reasons on Saturday, August 19 after Manchester United fell to a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils went into the game hoping to win again after barely defeating Wolves 1-0 in their opening match five days earlier.
Both teams had opportunities in the first half of an occasionally chaotic game, and while United was guilty of some hesitancy in front of goal, the host club was unlucky to hit the post twice in a span of 10 seconds late in the first half thanks to Pedro Porro and a deflection from Luke Shaw.

Tottenham eventually seized the lead thanks to Pape Matar Sarr, who hammered a drive high into the net from close range, as reported by the BBC. This was Tottenham’s first goal without Harry Kane.
Ivan Perisic’s cross was headed in by Lisandro Martinez for an own goal on the 83rd minute after being touched by Ben Davies.

As the game clocked full time, Manchester United fans had the same observation as many felt the midfield was lacking.
Casemiro appeared lethargic and at times lost, while Mason Mount, who was a wonderkid at Chelsea, did not make any significant contribution to the game.
