Spurs take on Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening but there is a noticeable absence from the United squad to face Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Erik ten Hag has made it abundantly clear that Harry maguire does not have a role to play in his Manchester United team moving forward.

The England defender sat on the bench during United’s opening Premier League match of the season on Monday night in the 1-0 win over Wolves. He has been linked with a move to West Ham United, with a £30million move looking lilkely only for it to collapse earlier this week.

But Maguire needs to find a new club or face a season on the sidelines, with ten Hag taking the bizarre decision to leave him out of the squad entirely for the trip to Tottenham Hotpsur in Saturday evening, naming two goalkeepers on the bench instead.

New summer signing Andre Onana starts the match in N17, with Dean Henderson on the bench, like he was against Wolves on Monday night. But there is another keeper on the substitutes’ bench too – Radek Vitek, a Czech stopper who signed for United from Sigmy Olomoucin 2020.

Maguire has less than two weeks to complete a transfer to another club, with the transfer window closing on Friday, September 1.

The clash in N17 will be Ange Postecoglou’s first home game in the Premier League, with Spurs drawing 2-2 away at Brentford in their opening clash last week.
