Predicted Man United’s strongest XI (4-2-3-1) vs Tottenham as Erik ten Hag set to make 1 harsh change

Manchester United will be looking to put on a stronger effort against Tottenham on Saturday after escaping with a rather lucky three points against Wolves. Erik ten Hag may make adjustments in the hopes of giving his team fresh life in light of the manner in which they performed against Wolves, especially when choosing his frontline. We examine the starting eleven that the Dutch manager might choose.

Goalkeeper – Andre Onana

Until United bring in a new No 2, it is hard to imagine Andre Onana not starting every Premier League match this season. The ex-Ajax star showed glimpses of why the Red Devils forked out £47.2million for his services this summer against Wolves, and he is likely to be called into action on numerous occasions against Tottenham too. Onana will also be hoping to avoid the limelight this time around, having brought down Wolves substitute Sasa Kalajdzic in what PMGOL have said should have been a penalty.

Defence: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw

Lisandro Martinez was replaced by Victor Lindelof at half-time against Wolves after sustaining a minor knock, but the Argentina international has now returned to training and Ten Hag has said that he ‘thinks’ he will be fit. Thus, it is hard to see there being any changes made across the backline for United, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the ideal fullback to try and keep Heung-Min Son under control.

Midfield: Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen

Mason Mount has struggled to make any kind of impact against Wolves, however, speaking at his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag remained supportive of Mason Mount. As a result, Masin looks set to still be part of United’s midfield trio with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.

Forwards: Antony, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford

With Rasmus Hojlund still ruled out through injury, Ten Hag will be relying on one of his wingers to lead the line against Tottenham. Marcus Rashford was uncharacteristically ineffective through the middle against Wolves, and it may be wise for the No 10 to play in his preferred position to avoid a downturn in form.

Jadon Sancho could lead the line for United

Given that Alejandro Garnacho was equally underwhelming, bringing Jadon Sancho back into the United attack to play as a makeshift striker may be the next step for Ten Hag. The ex-Borussia Dortmund star was trialled in the role throughout pre-season and emerged with credit, though this will be a significantly different task.
