Defender Linked to Real Madrid Expresses Desire to Join Barcelona

At the moment, Real Madrid is grappling with several gaps in their squad. The prolonged injuries to Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao have brought these areas into the forefront, necessitating immediate reinforcements. Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan arrival adds an element of experimentation, awaiting the club’s decision on signing a new center-back. However, there are additional positions on the field where Los Blancos require bolstering.

The right-back position is a notable concern. Dani Carvajal’s performance is not what it used to be, and the team lacks a substantial backup option for that role.

Real Madrid has been in need of a new right-back for some time. Nevertheless, it appears that the club’s focus has shifted to enhancing other areas, inadvertently neglecting the right flank.

In recent months, they’ve been associated with numerous right-back prospects. Among them is Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid, an up-and-coming talent highly regarded in Spanish football circles. Yet, indications suggest he might be considering a move to Barcelona.

Real Madrid-linked defender wants to join Barcelona

According to ESPN, Ivan Fresneda’s future hinges on whether Barcelona pursues him, with the 18-year-old Real Valladolid player awaiting their interest before making a decision. He had given his consent to join the Catalan club a few weeks ago, but opinions within Camp Nou appear divided on the necessity of signing the right-back.

Interestingly, Barcelona has also been linked to Joao Cancelo, adding another layer of uncertainty. This leaves us to wait and see if they opt for Fresneda or consider a more seasoned option.

As for Real Madrid, the likelihood of them pursuing Fresneda this summer seems slim, despite the ongoing rumors. It appears that Dani Carvajal will continue to retain his position as the first-choice right-back.
