The Chiefs Announce New Plan for Patrick Mahomes And Other Key Player

The Chiefs starters will play in the first half of their game on Saturday against the Cardinals, head coach Andy Reid announced on Thursday.

However, NFL Network’s James Palmer reported that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other key contributors on the team could possibly see less playing time in the first half, saying the “flow of the game” would dictate how long they remain on the field.

Kansas City kicked off preseason action with a 26–24 loss the Saints on Sunday. Every starter for the Chiefs played for the majority of the first quarter against New Orleans except for Mahomes.

The two-time Super Bowl winner only participated in one offensive play for Kansas City on Sunday after slipping on a five-yard run to escape a head hit. Mahomes also completed two throws for 15 yards to Clyde Edwards-Helaire on that series.

In preseason action, Mahomes will make his second appearance. The first two preseason games for Kansas City’s 2022 regular season also included the two-time NFL MVP.

Saints lose second straight game, 32-29 to Chiefs

Following their matchup with Arizona on Saturday, the Chiefs will play the Browns in their last preseason contest on August 26.
