Man City prodigy Rico Lewis was rewarded with 400% salary after participating in the treble-winning season

Rico Lewis has extended his contract with Manchester City by five years, keeping him at the Etihad until 2028.

Lewis, who was born in Bury, joined City’s academy when he was eight years old and advanced through the youth ranks before making 23 first-team appearances last season as Pep Guardiola’s squad won the Triple Crown.

The teenager’s current contract was set to expire next summer, but by signing a new one, the full-back has pledged his long-term future to the organization.

It has been an incredible year for me, and now that I’ve signed this contract, it’s a dream come true, Lewis remarked. I can remember watching City win championships when I was a kid, and that’s the only place I’ve ever wanted to go.

“It’s wonderful to know I’ll be here until 2028, and I can’t wait to keep working and getting better.” Starting with the Academy, where I learnt a ton and am so appreciative for everything they did, everyone at the Club has been so incredible.

Rico Lewis has extended his Manchester City contract for another five years.

Lewis signed a five-year contract with a sixth-year option that will keep him at the Etihad until 2028.

The young player, who was instrumental in City’s historic Treble last season, strikes a pose in front of it.

“The fans have been fantastic, too, and I’ll do anything for them and the Club to keep us winning,” said the player.

After his renewal, Lewis was seen signing off on the historic occasion for the adolescent by placing his signature on a huge touchscreen.

Txiki Begiristain, City’s director of football, continued, “Rico is a tremendously cerebral footballer and is already an experienced and trustworthy part of the club.

He takes up every bit of knowledge Pep imparts to him, which is exceptional for a player his age. We are incredibly happy to have followed his development through the Academy and to have witnessed his assured play for the first team.

“His energy and hunger are contagious throughout the squad, and we think he can contribute to more success in the upcoming years.”
