What is this man incapable of?
For Inter Miami, Lionel Messi just scored a truly incredible goal—a 40-yard screamer, to be exact.
Since joining the MLS team, Messi has scored nine goals in six games.
The World Cup winner opted to take the game by the scruff of the neck as Messi’s Inter Miami led Philadelphia Union 1-0 in the Leagues Cup semifinal.
The Argentinian legend received the ball just past the halfway mark and dribbled toward Philadelphia’s goal while many defenders were breathing down his neck.
But just as it appeared that the 36-year-old was about to start one of his iconic frantic, jinking runs, he let loose a fierce shot from what seemed to be miles away. You just knew the ball was going in as soon as it left his left boot, which was a wand.
The low, well-placed shot easily defeated the Union goalkeeper and found its way into the bottom-right corner of the goal. A player who constantly demonstrates why he’s among the best to ever play football scored a genuinely amazing goal.
Fans raced to the comments section to praise the legend after the MLS official account tweeted a clip of the goal. One person retorted, “Messi playing in easy mode.”Another enthusiast remarked, “Greatest of all time.”Another person said, “Makes it look so easy.”Just before halftime, Inter Miami increased their lead once more, thanks to Messi’s former Barcelona colleague Jordi Alba.
