Wolves may have been the better team because they took 23 shots while United only took 15.

For the last 10 minutes, Erik ten Hag’s team had to stay in their own half to keep their slim lead.

Here’s how the United team did in the game.

Andre Onana: 8 out of 10

The new goalkeeper for United had to work hard for his clean sheet.

He made six great stops and moved off his line to catch crosses instead of punching them out. In the extra time, he probably got lucky not to give away a penalty.

8/10 for Aaron Wan-Bissaka

utdreport on Twitter: "#mufc intend to open formal talks with Aaron Wan- Bissaka over a new contract. United are preparing discussions with his representatives, which are scheduled to commence after the current transfer

Even though United had a lot of clever players on the field, Wan-Bissaka turned out to be their best way to attack. Only four of his 44 passes were lost, and he got a great help.

Raphael Varane: 7 out of 10

Not likely to win the game. The Frenchman spoke up at the back and scored the goal that put his team ahead. Ten Hag is lucky that Varane is not hurt.

5/10 for Lisandro Martinez

The Argentine player got a yellow card for a bad slide tackle on Pedro Neto, which was the right call. When halftime came, Ten Hag saw him walking on a wire and pulled him off.

Luke Shaw: 6 out of 10

At the beginning of the game, Shaw moved too far to the center, and as the game went on, he sometimes seemed to be out of ideas.

In the 90th minute, he made a great block to stop Fabio Silva.

5/10 for Casemiro

Man United had no control in the middle of the field, and Casemiro had a hard time stopping Wolves’ fast and straight attack.

The former star for Real Madrid was passed the ball four times, and he only won three of the 15 duels he was in.

4/10 for Mason Mount

He gave us more fire in the middle of the field, but he didn’t do anything with the ball.

Ten Hag would have wanted more from the summer player he signed. Jesse Lingard wouldn’t have been a bad choice if that was the only reason he was brought in.

Bruno Fernandes: 5 out of 10

United’s full-time leader had trouble making passes and being as creative as he usually is. Varane’s goal was set up by a clever lob pass to Wan-Bissaka.

Antony: 5 of 10

The Brazil player still makes bad choices in the final third, just like he did last season. He lost possession of the ball twice, and both times Wolves were close to scoring.

Marcus Rashford: 6 out of 10

The 25-year-old was put at the front by himself. He was fed with little help, and when he wandered to the left, he had the most fun.

5/10 for Alejandro Garnacho

A stressful day out for the child. He saw a lot of the ball down the left side, but Nelson Semedo was able to steal it from him.

Victor Lindelof as a sub: 6/10

stepped in for Martinez and played good defense. The fact that he was taken off before Harry Maguire shows that the English player has no future at United.

6/10 for Jadon Sancho

When Garnacho was playing, there was a lack of control and sharpness on the side.

Facundo Pellistri – Not Applicable

It’s too late to rate. He replaced Antony around the 80-minute mark and had to play defense more than he would have liked.

Scott McTominay – Not Applicable

It’s too late to rate.
