After securing Ousmane Dembele’s transfer from Barcelona earlier this summer, PSG didn’t stop there. The French club also had their sights set on another key player from the Catalan side, the talented young midfielder Gavi.
According to RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain contemplated the idea of signing the 19-year-old Golden Boy during the summer transfer window. The newly-appointed manager, Luis Enrique, is known to be an admirer of Gavi’s skills, as he had given him his Spain national team debut in 2021.
No move for Gavi
Despite showing initial interest in Gavi, PSG swiftly abandoned their plans to sign the young talent during this summer’s transfer window, citing various reasons.
The strained relationship between the two clubs, accentuated by the Dembele transfer saga, played a role in PSG’s decision. They recognized that the timing for such a move was unfavorable.
