LIVERPOOL are reportedly set to rival Nottingham Forest in the chase for Ibrahim Sangare after missing out on Moises Caicedo.
The Reds agreed a £111m fee with Brighton last week for the 21-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder.
PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool
The star’s brother, ex-Man City ace Kiki Musampa, says they are one of three big clubs keen
Caicedo, though, turned down a transfer to Anfield because he had his heart set on Chelsea from the start of the window.
Brighton has already accepted Chelsea’s offer of £115 million, breaking the previous British transfer record of £107 million that Chelsea paid Benfica for Enzo Fernandez in January.
After losing a number of midfielders over the summer, Jurgen Klopp is now desperately searching elsewhere for reinforcements as a result of that rejection.
And now, according to former Manchester City star Kiki Musampa, Liverpool are interested in Sangare of PSV Eindhoven.
The French-Ivorian’s 46-year-old brother reports that the Reds are one of three European powerhouses vying for the services of his sister.
The 25-year-old is also a target for Forest, but they were unable to match the Eredivisie club’s asking price.
The international Ivory Coast player, who transferred from Toulouse to PSV in 2020, has a £32 million release clause in his contract.
Steve Cooper’s Forest are reportedly up against stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool despite the fact that they are still looking for a deal.
Speaking to Good Morning Eredivisie, Musampa said: “There are big clubs that are interested, such as Bayern Munich.
“Ibrahim is also on the list at Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, but he is not yet a priority there.
“Nottingham Forest had already made an offer, but that was not enough.”
