As a free agent, Eden Hazard came back to Chelsea to support his old team against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
Hazard, 32, is currently without a contract after Real Madrid and the Belgian star mutually agreed to end it in June.
Before joining Real Madrid, where he spent four years as a player, the winger had seven successful years at Chelsea between 2012 and 2019, winning two Premier League trophies and other honors.
A Twitter user shared a photo of Hazard at the field before the 4.30 pm kickoff in West London, which ended in a 1-1 draw between Chelsea and Liverpool. Hazard is currently looking for his next challenge.
Reporter Lewis Steele for Mail Sport also verified that free agent Eden Hazard was present at Stamford Bridge as a spectator.
Liverpool supporters saw John W. Henry, the club’s major owner, arrive at the SW6 stadium in the meantime.
The NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, the MLB’s Boston Red Sox, and Liverpool are some of Henry’s clients. Liverpool had a summer of heavy expenditure this year, splashing out on Dominik Szoboszlai for £60 million and Alexis Mac Allister for £35 million.
Jurgen Klopp started both of his new acquisitions as Liverpool took on Chelsea to open the new campaign.
With 352 appearances for Chelsea over seven years and 110 goals, Hazard was a key player for the Blues.
However, he struggled with injuries and a lack of form after his significant transfer to Real Madrid in 2019, prompting critics and fans to label the 32-year-old as one of the team’s worst signings ever.
Hazard is rumored to be considering retiring in the future, despite being still relatively young in terms of age, and a trip to the MLS with the Vancouver Whitecaps of Canada.
