According to Sky Sports, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich player, Benjamin Pavard are in negotiations to replace Harry Maguire.
Maguire, who was relieved of his duties as United’s club captain by Erik Ten Hag earlier this summer, seems to be close to leaving Old Trafford.
Last week, West Ham made an initial offer of £20 million, but United reportedly demanded twice that amount. A fee of around £30 million, however, appears to have been agreed upon as a compromise.
The success of the deal now depends on the English international’s ability to reach a personal agreement with the London club; the deal is apparently now being held up by a hefty pay cut from his enormous United salary.
If the trade is approved, United will use the money to hire Benjamin Pavard, a World Cup-winning defender for Bayern Munich.
This transfer window, the defender has already been associated with clubs like Manchester City and Barcelona, and he is reportedly ready to “fight as hard as possible” to leave the Bundesliga.
The 27-year-old Pavard is reportedly pressing for the transfer because he is eager to try himself in the Premier League after spending the last seven seasons with Stuttgart and Bayern in the Bundesliga.
According to reports, Pavard is valued by the Red Devils at about the same amount as Harry Maguire is being sold for, but Bayern Munich is said to place a much greater value on the defender.
