Real Madrid easily defeated Athletic Club 2-0 to kick off the 2023–24 La Liga season.

Jude Bellingham made his club debut and scored the game’s only goal as Los Blancos cruised to victory.

With the exception of Eder Militao’s injury, the night went well for Real Madrid.

Militao has a severe knee condition.

Prior to having to be replaced early in the second half, the Real Madrid center defender had a respectable game for the most part.

Due to a severe knee injury, Militao had to be removed from the game as he was screaming in agony. Antonio Rudiger was brought in right away by Carlo Ancelotti.

The initial signs suggest Militao does, in fact, have a major knee issue, according to MARCA. Real Madrid is anticipated to perform additional tests to further analyze the problem.

The team won’t know how long the defender will be out injured until after additional examinations.

However, it is a significant setback for Real Madrid in the near term, given they have lost Thibaut Courtois and Arda Guler to injuries before to the start of the season.

While Kepa Arrizabalaga is apparently close to joining the club as Courtois’ replacement, finding a replacement for Militao may prove to be far more difficult.

The club may be forced to go to the young team for replacements if Militao is absent, as David Alaba has already had a year marred by injuries.

However, the Spanish giants will remain patient while they await the findings of additional tests and diagnostic procedures to address Militao’s knee problem.

Militao’s ACL tear would be the worst-case scenario for Los Blancos, but there is a chance that the injury may not be as catastrophic as that.
