FORMER Manchester United midfielder Fred emotionally confirms his exit from the club.

The Brazilian has confirmed his departure from United by sending a heartfelt farewell message to supporters.

He made over 200 appearances for United and contributed 14 goals and 19 assists.

United will receive £9m up front with £4m in add-ons and he flew to Istanbul on Saturday morning for his medical.

The midfielder wrote on social media: “Thanks for everything, Manchester United Football Club.

“Today ends one of the most beautiful stages of my career. I lived the dream of wearing the shirt of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“Going through ups and downs, I leave with the conviction that I always gave my best during all training sessions and games.

“It was five years of a true dream for me and my family. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity. Forever a Red.”

‘With thanks and respect for his significant contribution to the squad over the last five years,’ according to sources at United, Fred will depart.

The Brazilian played frequently for both dreadful temporary coach Ralf Rangnick and former manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer despite facing plenty of public criticism.

However, his playing time was significantly decreased last season under the new management Erik ten Hag.

The midfielder has just one year left on his Old Trafford deal and only made 12 league starts the previous year. Fenerbahce’s offer was accepted by the team.

Due to Fred’s departure, Erik ten Hag will be able to sign Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat.

However, the Red Devils will need to act soon because Juventus is the newest team to express interest in signing him.

United is planning to look at Amadou Onana of Everton as a possible replacement if they don’t land Amrabat.

Fred was a dressing room favourite at United
