Harry Kane, who has 280 goals in 435 games for Tottenham, has signed a four-year contract and was registered in time for tonight’s match between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig;German Supercup coverage begins at 7:35 p.m. on Sky Sports Football.
Following the completion of his £100 million transfer from Tottenham to Bayern Munich, Harry Kane may make his debut later on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
Kane expressed his happiness at joining Bayern, one of the top teams in the world. “I’ve always said that I want to move and prove myself at the highest level in my career,” he added.
“The winning mentality of this club defines it; it feels great to be here.”
Kane has a four-year deal and, if registering in time to play at the Allianz Arena, may make his Bayern debut against RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.
Kane wrote a farewell letter to Tottenham in which he indicated it was the appropriate moment to leave the team, but he also hinted that it might not be the last time.
He expressed his sadness at leaving the club where he had spent nearly 20 years of his life, from the time he was 11 years old until the time he was 30 years old. There have been so many wonderful times and unique recollections that I will always treasure.
“And I want to especially thank the Tottenham fans. I’ve been one of your own ever since I started playing, and I’ve done everything in my power to make you proud and offer you as many beautiful moments and memories that, hopefully, will last a lifetime.
“I thought it was the perfect time to go. I didn’t want to have a lot of unresolved future talk going into the season. I believe it’s critical that Tottenham focus their efforts on climbing to the top of the table and competing for trophies under the new manager and with the players.
“I send Ange and the guys my very best wishes for success. I will now obviously be following from the perspective of a fan, and I sincerely hope the squad can succeed.
“This is a message to all of you Tottenham supporters throughout the world. Every single one of you has helped me along the way and supported me. My family and I will always treasure it. Thank you for the times we’ve shared; we’ll never forget them. I’m going to watch the season.
“Wishing Tottenham and the team luck. Because you never know how things will turn out in the future, it’s not a final farewell. Thank you and I’ll talk to you shortly.
